I designed a fun and engaging webapp UI especially for primary schools.
Discovery
I spoke to teachers at our primary schools to understand how they used our product with young children, and what more they might like to do with it in future.
Exploration
I researched what sites young children used outside of school. I saw that the line between education and play was blurred, kids probably don't realise they are learning at the same time as having fun!
Playful style
Storytelling, delight, and making it easy for young minds to interact with learning content. This became the underlying principles for this theme, and differentiated it greatly from the other themes that are available for our schools.
Font
I found a typeface that was designed especially for children learning to read. It matches the way students are taught to write, and it has special consideration for readers that are dyslexic.
Icons
I developed an icon set that teachers could use to make their content more engaging, and a set of type styles that could help the young students to focus and read more easily.
Animation
I designed all the illustrations and animations myself; I wanted to make it really exciting and engaging for our young students to interact and learn.
